McKinley Monument

After the assassination of President William McKinley many cities and towns erected memorials to honor the slain President. Springfield, MA commissioned the sculptor Philip Martiny to create a suitable monument. It consists of a bust of the slain President on top of a granite pedestal. Next to the pedestal is an allegorical female figure, reaching up with a palm frond in her hand. The allegorical figure is meant to represent - Fame. Before the statue was moved to its present site it was located on a hill overlooking the Connecticut River in Forest Park. Canon 5D2, EF 70-200 @135mm.  1/320s, f/2.8, ISO 100.
